This painting was inspired by the view through the railings at Cotton’s Atrium by
the River Thames. I often incorporate stripes into my work. This time my love of
stripes took the form of railings, which are painted in such a way that they
become almost shadows over the objects behind them, like the half way stage
when taking a photograph the depth of field can be adjusted to show or hide the
bars in the foreground.
